Calm, cozy, colorful - these words aren’t usually associated with the bold and brawny John Hancock Center, towering 100-stories over the Magnificent Mile. Yet that’s exactly the vibe upon stepping into Alchemy, a deliciously enchanting cafe tucked into the base of the landmark tower. Constructed as a seasonal pop-up, the cafe showcases a collection of cacao-based treats and beverages crafted by a pair of Ecuador-based companies who are working to eliminate food waste, resurrect an ancient cacao variety, and promote regenerative forestry in their home region. Large-scale art, warm woodwork, and custom light fixtures transform this formerly drab storefront into a welcoming Ecuadorian escape right in the heart of the Windy City. Get ready to indulge in a sweet symphony of taste and culture – a truly extraordinary experience for serious chocolate lovers and thirsty tourists alike!
